SSC North America (formerly Shelby SuperCars) is an American car manufacturer, founded in 1998 by Jerod Shelby (no relation to Carroll Shelby). The company specializes in building hypercars that aim to be the fastest in the world.
Its first major success came with the SSC Ultimate Aero, which in 2007 officially set the record for the world’s fastest production car at 412 km/h, before the Bugatti Veyron later reclaimed the title. In 2020, SSC introduced the Tuatara, once again attempting to break the top speed record.
Despite controversy surrounding its initial record claim, SSC remains known as one of the few American hypercar manufacturers competing at the very highest level.
